The Original was an Oil Painting on a Handmade Panel, Mounted on Reclaimed Wood

I love the colors of the water early morning – early evening and wanted to capture and simplify all the beauty that is Newport Beach with crisp cool blues and blue – greens.  I also wanted to give this piece the feel of an old polaroid and working on a panel allowed for that smooth layer upon layer of paint and glazing to make it glow.  Newport Beach is such a gorgeous laidback town.

“It’s a place where the kids still run around in summer like they did in the 50’s and everyone seems laidback and calm.  In fact, they’re so relaxed that it is infectious and a couple of days here can do wonders for a bedraggled spirit.”

I knew right away I wanted to be able to reproduce this piece, and I am happy we did because it sold quickly.  It’s a beautiful piece to just stare at (see blog for a photo of the painting in the client’s home).  It a gorgeous print too, our files from the original work capture the texture and colour on whatever surface its printed on beautifully!
